Awards
Graduate students
working with faculty in the Center are recognized nationally and
internationally for their research. Recent awards won by CCFE graduate
students include:
Derek Berglund (Advisors: Tilton and
Przybycein) received the 2003 Student Award given by the Polymer
Group of the Pittsburgh Section of ACS.
Ray Dagastine
(Advisors: Prieve and White) was awarded an NSF Postdoctoral International
Research Fellowship for two years to work at the Particulate Fluids
Processing Centre in Melbourne, Australia. Ray will head to Australia
in August of 2002.
My Hang Truong (Advisor: Walker) took
first place in the Student Poster competition at the Annual Society
of Rheology meeting in Bethesda MD. My Hang was also presented
with a Symposium award for her presentation at the recent ChEGSA Symposium.
Brian Priore
(Advisor: Walker) won the 2001 Student Award in Applied Polymer
Science from the American Chemical Society PMSE division (C&E News
article).
Stephanie Butler
Velegol (Advisor: Tilton) won the AAUW (American Association of
University Women) Selected Professions Engineering Dissertation Fellowship
in 2000.
Michael Bevan
(Advisor: Prieve) won the 1999 Henkle Award for graduate research
from the ACS Colloid Division.
Darrell Velegol
(Advisors: Anderson & Garoff) won the 1998 Victor K. LaMer Award
for Outstanding Graduate Research in Colloid and Surface Chemistry.
